How we do it
The management committee is composed of the Managing Partner, Associates including Consultants who are invited depending on the aspect under consideration and their areas of expertise.
The firm is comprised of departments dedicated to Solicitor Work, Litigation and Transaction Advisory.
The firm also works in association with other leading firms which avails us with extensive research mechanisms that enable us to review all necessary literature which is relevant to the task given. In our understanding this is the bedrock of the client’s assignment as it affords the advocate an insight into the nature of the legal problem that needs to be solved.
Through our practice, we closely associate with some of the leading firms like Katende, Ssempebwa & Company Advocates, and Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris Glovsky and Popeo PC, Boston Massachusetts USA for which firm we have handled several immigration matters very diligently and successfully. This firm has consulted us variously on the Uganda Immigration Laws and citizenship status of several immigrants (Ugandan) now living in the U.S.A which job, we have done commendably well. We pride such relationships, as they are mutually beneficial to our firm, associates and clients.
Our legal team’s multi disciplinary background, equips us with the ability to understand the growing demands of business. Our team participates in academic seminars, conferences and such other activities organized locally by the Law Society of Uganda, East Africa Law Society, International Bar Association, CADER, Universities and Private Sector Foundation Uganda amongst others.
Our firm recognizes the ever-changing demands of the world, and therefore we ensure that we continuously train and keep abreast with the law in order to solve our clients ever growing business problems.
Our commitment to pro-bono services is deep and abiding. We devote approximately 500 hours annually to pro-bono projects for individual clients; community based projects and for the Legal Aid Project because we have the belief that legal service should not be restricted to the rich. We closely associate with the Non-governmental organizations like Care for Abandoned Victims of Accidents (CAVA), Advocate for the African Child, International Refugee Rights Initiative (IRRI), Minority Rights Group (MRG), Gatsby Trust Foundation and Farm Africa, whose projects on many occasions are aimed to help those that are destitute because these organisations’ work is premised on the fact that a significant proportion of the Uganda population lives in abject poverty. This way we contribute to the community’s access to justice as they cannot pursue the same due to the high related costs.
Commitment to pro-bono work is a defining characteristic of our firm and we approach our pro-bono projects with the same commitment and excellence as we do our work. We emphasize that most of our pro-bono efforts are on behalf of indigent persons, to contribute to the promotion of equality in access to justice as advocated for by the Uganda Law Society and other Justice, Law and Order Sector Institutions.
The opportunities for pro-bono work are many and we offer our support and guidance and we continue to solicit proposals for new pro-bono projects
